Congratulations to Luke Gilbert in Year 10 for winning the Under 17 Dairy Cows Judging event at the Christchurch A&P Show. Luke, despite being one of the younger competitors, was also declared the overall winner across two age groups and will now travel to Sydney for the Royal Easter Show. As an added bonus, while in Sydney, he will have the opportunity to assist a world renowned “fitter” to prepare the cattle for the show.

Congratulations also to Ben Sutherland in Year 11 who came third in the Junior Merino Sheep Judging finals at the Show. Having come second in his regionals, this was Ben’s first time competing in the finals. The competition involved him ranking four animals based on their body structure and wool texture, and then having to deliver his judgement in an oral presentation.
