Georgie Martin in Year 12 travelled to Japan last week as part of the Prime Ministerial delegation, along with ten other Japanese language students from other Christchurch schools. Based in Sendai, they visited Onagawa, one of the places devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Georgie was overwhelmed at how generous and hopeful the people she met there were, despite the fact their homes had been destroyed. Another memorable part of her trip, was being selected to give a speech on behalf of the students which John Key afterwards congratulated her on.
